Comments Off on 1303 Systems and Quantum Demo Crucible
Earlier this week, we shared some NAB Show highlights from the software and workflow side of post-production. Today, Thad Vaughn, Vice President of 1303 Systems and our storage guru, shares some of his favorite storage innovations from the show floor.
Our friends at Quantum have been working on some interesting partnerships for Xcellis, their latest product that debuted last November. Xcellis isn’t just another revision of Quantum’s trusted metadata appliances. Quantum has integrated support for their high performance LAN clients and added NAS connectivity. This reduces their hardware footprint in your datacenter while extending the reach of your storage to all users, regardless of platform. Xcellis also has the ability to run applications natively on the MDCs. Quantum is currently supporting offerings from Vidispine, Cantemo Portal and a few other select partners to provide even more value to customers to help them power what’s next.
Infortrend is another company we partner with on a regular basis. Their DS4000 series with SSD is consistently beating every other storage vendor in product testing. Do you need to deliver 1 million IOPS but don’t have the budget for EMC, Netapp, Hitachi? Now you have a scalable, high performance, budget friendly option.
Last, but certainly not least, was a newcomer to the storage space. SymplyStor is modular storage designed specifically to replace your old sneakernet solution. No more passing drives between content creators. SymplyStor is a Thunderbolt storage powered by Stornext. With up to 64TB of RAID 6 storage, SymplyStor has the capacity and performance for your most demanding creative tasks like ultra-high-definition video editing, audio and video finishing – or keeping massive amounts of content on hand over high performance, low latency Thunderbolt.
If you have an aging xSan or are outgrowing your current storage solutions, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can chat about a custom solution for your organization.
We know not all of our clients are able to attend NAB Show every year, so we thought we’d bring a little bit of what we enjoyed during the week to those of you who may have missed the show. First up, Chris Collum, President of 1303 Systems, will share his insights from the software and workflow solutions side of the house.
Our friends at Cantemo were showing off the latest features from Portal 2.3. Hot off the development cycle, the latest version of Cantemo Portal features a number of exciting updates:
New generation of Rules Engine, which allows for custom automations and the creation of more advanced rules and workflows.
Hierarchical metadata, a relationship-based way of handling metadata.
Support for Oracle DIVArchive.
Cantemo also officially launched their latest Adobe® Premiere® Pro CC for Windows, which enables a more streamlined content and metadata exchange between Cantemo Portal and Adobe Premiere Pro CC. The Cantemo crew also shared this fun recap video as well:
At the AWS booth, Vidispine showcased Vidispine 4.5 and Vidixplore 1.0. Vidispine continues to introduce some very cool new features around the Vidispine Server Agent, as well as API improvements such as export templates and content paths. Vidixplore goes into full-release mode as well; it’s our favorite MAM that isn’t a MAM.
And speaking of Vidispine… 1303 released Crucible, our bespoke MAM platform based on Vidispine. Crucible has a solid set of core features and is designed to be truly extensible to meet specific client needs. You can find out more at www.cruciblemam.com.
